If my calculations serve me correctly, today marks 2 months/8 weeks since the beginning of The Letter Writing Revolution. It's been very satisfying for me to see that I have inspired even a handful of people to get back to letter writing and to even reconnect with people you haven't been in touch with for a while. I hope that you are taking the time to hand write thank you notes and to maybe get started on that hard-to-write letter. Maybe you finally got around to expressng your feelings in a love letter either to someone new or someone who has been a part of your life for a long time. Perhaps, a homesick soldier got your letter in the mail. I know that one expectant mom was planning to write her unborn baby a letter after reading my post from this week called Sweet Child of Mine. I am hoping she managed to do it as I have heard that her baby boy came into the world unexpectedly last night. Welcome to the world, Alexander!
So in celebration of 2 months, I want to hear from YOU! Send me a quick comment on what you like about TLWR or how you have been inspired or send me some ideas of things you would like to see in upcoming posts. I know that some of you are from farway places like Israel, Russia, the Ukraine, Senagal, the Netherlands, Germany, etc. Send me a note. Your feedback is encouraging so please take a moment and leave a comment. Don't be shy. I appreciate it!
Thank you for your continued support and for your contribution to the lost art of letter writing!
I love the blog Julie! It has opened up a corridor of discussion with my husband where we debate the merits of letter writing vs email. We were recently in Brooklin, Maine at a wonderful place full of outstanding people. They will be getting a written "thank you" letter because we both agree that the experience merits it. Thank you for reviving letter writing for us.
ReplyDeleteI was very excited to see your beautifully decorated envelope in the mail this morning! It was a great day to receive it, too, because it's the first quiet day in a while so I got to sit down with my lunch and enjoy reading it. I have never been great at keeping in touch with letter-writing; I am more likely to handwrite a thank you letter, love letter, or word of encouragement, though, and do find that I enjoy the token of time and thought these letters are. I will certainly be writing back and was glad to read that you're not expecting it to be a 24-hr turnaround! :) Great way to get back in touch with you!
ReplyDeleteI have just returned from spending 3 days with a bestest old friend at her cottage, told her all about TLWR. Came home to find a wonderful card (7-yr old artist Kieron Williamson, you won't believe this talent) and hand-written note from an old friend in England..thanking me for the "real letter" she had received from me AND a letter with penmanship I recognize even tho' the return address is a give-away. I've been saving the letter while I do catch up in the house/outside (ok emails, facebook and TLWR too) and NOW..saving the best for last..I am off to my favourite chair to enjoy your letter. You want feedback Julie..well you know I am a fan!
ReplyDeleteGood morning Julie. I wanted to tell you that when I arrived home from work yesterday I was thrilled to find a very cool looking letter in the mail, from you!
ReplyDeleteI promise to write you back very soon. xo Chris.
Hey Julie,
ReplyDeleteSo I just came back from the post office, and I mailed out 7 letters, and my hand has completely cramped up! It felt great though, I sent them to Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Hong Kong, and Ontario. I know some of my friends whom I sent letters to were lamenting the fact that their mail is so boring, so I like to imagine their surprise when they open their mail in about a week. I went out and bought some lovely stationary and it proved to be some great motivation. Viva la Revolucion!
